COACHING

The magnificent mitochondria are at the centre of interest in the world of mental health. They assist in our mental and emotional processes through the role that they play in the network of neurons throughout the body. The world of neuroscience has proved that mitochondria play a role in neuroplasticity; the brain's ability to reorganise itself by creating new neural connections through changes in thinking and behaviour. This extraordinarily valuable information is telling us that we can re-programme our thinking, by putting into practice new thought processes and behavioural changes.

Our own thoughts affect us at a cellular level. There is a strong connection between our mental and emotional function and the energy in our cells. Poor mental cognition such as brain fog, lack of focus, muddled thinking, poor memory and short concentration spans can be seen as a consequence of cellular health not functioning optimally. The same can be said of emotional states such as depression, apathy, fear, anxiety and pessimism.

HOLISTIC COACHING

Mental and emotional vitality require physical vitality in all the systems that affect our mental state and mood. A holistic approach is best, and there are many avenues to explore. Physically, optimum nutrition, exercise and breath training work powerfully for your mitochondria to do their job as effectively. Many psychological methods help people gain emotional balance, overcome obstacles and create new neural pathways for success through developing new thought processes and behaviours. NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Coaching is one such discipline. To further define: Neuro- Our neurological systems, Linguistic- our communication both verbal and nonverbal: Programming – our programmed thinking and how we can re-programme that thinking. NLP has some presuppositions, such as the mind and body being one system, we have all the resources to reach our outcomes. There is no such thing as failure only feedback from life experience.

HOW CAN COACHING HELP?

A central tenet of NL P is modelling excellence; if we learn the strategies of those who are excellent in a given area, then we can achieve the same result. This presupposition alone offers the potential for powerful change management. A skilful practitioner can help you understand your current thinking and behaviours by identifying the obstacles that prevent you from thriving; physically, mentally and emotionally. They can challenge the limiting beliefs that may be depleting you of your energy and vitality. They can transform your motivational strategy to help you reach your vitality goals. Putting new behaviours in place will improve your efficiency and time management. Lastly, you can learn to understand the structure of negative behaviour patterns, enabling you to change that behavioural structure so it becomes enabling and positive. Clear visualisation of your outcome which will increase your motivation and potential for success.
